Environmental Waste Controls Sustainable Development Policy

Respect for the Environment has always been integral to Environmental Waste Controls services.

As a Company operating in the Recycling and Waste Management sector, Environmental Waste Controls - with no commitment to Landfill, is strategically placed to maximise sustainability.

This is achieved by minimising the amount of materials going to Landfill by maximising diversion to re-use, composting and recycling, and then minimising the remaining volume of residual waste by high level compaction.

Compaction reduces the amount of transport required, is financially beneficial, and in creating a smaller carbon footprint for the operation, reduces congestion, pollution and improves accessibility to the sites. By the avoidance of methane generation in Landfills of reduced vehicle emissions, the global warming impact of our customers’ businesses as measured in carbon footprint is reduced.

Fewer vehicle journeys also means less fuel used and less congestion on the roads.  Recovered materials can be re-used or re-processed instead of being thrown away.

The main aims of sustainable development include:

Effective protection of the environment

Prudent use of natural resources

Social Progress which recognises stakeholders needs

To encourage economic growth and employment

To help plan and control its activities, Environmental Waste Controls operate an integrated management system that is registered to ISO 9001 for Quality and ISO 14001 for Environmental issues.  These independently verified standards help us to maintain and improve EWC’s obligations to its customers and to the Environment.
