Announcement
Cash Injection
I am delighted to say that Environmental Waste Controls Ltd (EWC) has recently received a significant Cash Injection by consolidating part of our business. This transaction will ultimately develop a better financial status for the company and has significantly strengthened our balance sheet which will in turn help EWC give a better service to our customers, and further improve contract performance.
EWC have sold, subject to novation by the councils concerned, the management contracts for 23 Household Waste Recycling Centres to May Gurney. The contracts are with Norfolk and Gloucestershire County Councils and May Gurney already had a 50% investment in the Norfolk contract. We understand both councils are already customers of May Gurney in non waste contracts.
May Gurney’s entry into the Waste Recycling Centre arena is not only recognition of EWC’s business model in significantly improving the professionalism of the sites but also is a huge boost to councils nationally as they now have another company with the same business model aspiring to 70% recycling and above. A huge help with LATS targets looming and more choice in the procurement process of Waste Recycling Centre tenders.
May Gurney has successfully operated the Norfolk HWRC contract in joint venture with EWC since April 2007 and therefore we know their team to be passionate and professional and with the same dedication to quality as EWC. We wish May Gurney continued success.
The monies will, inter alia, be used to fund our new Warrington contract starting February 08, and should we be successful, pending bids for a number of other County Councils.
Having this investment means that we can realise our plans to develop and grow our company, by reorganising how we continue going forward. Restructuring of the senior management of the company has also taken place to facilitate this process.
Peter Cooke, a highly experienced waste management professional, who has worked for waste management companies globally, has been appointed Managing Director with effect from 1 November 2007.
David Leah, who has lead EWC’s accounts team for the past six months and has accepted the financial challenges of managing a growing business, has been appointed Finance Director with effect from 1 November 2007.
Joe Major, another highly experienced waste management professional, who is improving and expanding our services to our customers, has been appointed Operations Manager with effect from 1 November 2007.
Steve Dodds, our Commercial Director for Scotland, Ireland and the Isle of Man has taken on the New Business Development for these areas; he has also recruited a sales professional – Gordon Smith, who has an impressive CV, to expand and promote our business in these areas.
These are all giant leaps in our fortunes and underpinnings and we would like to thank all our customers and suppliers for their confidence in us through some difficult times. Our team look forward to working together with you for a bright and prosperous future.
